Have you ever experienced this? You go to the airport and get the chance to look at airplanes standing by on the runway. Then, you start regressing back to your childhood days where you always wanted to have the chance to sit inside a plane’s cockpit, wear those fancy headphones, switch those cool-looking knobs and buttons and say “let’s fly”. Afterwards, you start imitating the sounds made by a plane and pretend as if you’re driving one. Well if you have, then you might as well be an RC airplane enthusiast rather than looking like a fool in front of your friends and family by doing those funny noises and laughing on your own once again.

RC toys are very popular.  Of all of the different varieties out there, airplane, boat, and helicopter radio controlled toys are the three top bestsellers.  A radio controlled aircraft, more commonly known as an RC aircraft or RC plane, is an aircraft model that is controlled and flown through the use of a remote. This is possible through a hand-held transmitter and a receiver within the aircraft. The receiver takes control of the respective servo engines or servos that move the control surfaces based on the position to which the joysticks on the transmitter are placed. As a result, this affects the orientation or positioning of the airplane.

Assembling RC airplane kits and flying electric RC airplanes are now getting more popular for a lot of people. For some who are not yet skilled and knowledgeable enough to assemble a kit, an RC airplane RTF variety is also available in the market. The infectious fun and thrill of RC hobbies has spread worldwide with the advent of more effective motors, which can be both electric and miniature internal combustion or jet engines; lighter and more powerful batteries and cheaper radio systems. Because of its worldwide popularity, RC airplanes are now available in a wide array of styles and models.

Not only have these planes served as a hobby for collectors and enthusiasts, they have been utilized in the government and military organizations for experiments, gathering weather readings, aerodynamic modeling and testing, as well as using them as spy planes or drones.

There are a lot of types of radio-controlled airplanes. For those who have just started this hobby, there are park flyers and trainers. On the other hand, if you are already an advanced pilot, glow plug engines, and electric powered and sailplane aircrafts would be more suitable for your skills. And, for flyers that have already gained much expertise, jet pylon racers, autogyros, 3D aircrafts, and other high end competition aircrafts are available to provide them with the thrill and challenge they want.
